# Your Next Store

Next.js storefront template with 149 theme branches; runs on the hosted YNS platform with one API key.

MIT Next.js 16 storefront built to be edited by coding agents (AGENTS.md, typed Commerce Kit SDK). Catalog, carts, and checkout come from the hosted YNS platform through YNS_API_KEY, with Stripe for payments. Adapting means setting two env vars and picking a theme branch.

Alternative to: Shopify

## Use it when

- I want a storefront I can restyle with Claude Code this afternoon and I am fine paying a hosted backend for catalog and orders
- I sell a few hundred products through Stripe and do not want to run a database

## Gotchas

- The template needs a YNS_API_KEY from the hosted platform; the pricing page lists no free plan, so running it likely costs from $30/month
- Stores seeded from the template share no git history with it; syncing upstream needs the graft-and-merge procedure in docs/sync.md

## Editions

- Template: Free, open source

## Adaptable: make it yours

Effort: config-only (5 things to edit)

Copy .env.example to .env.local and set YNS_API_KEY (from yns.store admin) and NEXT_PUBLIC_YNS_API_TENANT. Pick one of 149 theme branches with git checkout. AGENTS.md carries the conventions a coding agent follows for further edits; scripts/api.sh and scripts/publish.sh script the platform from the terminal.

- Env vars: YNS_API_KEY, NEXT_PUBLIC_YNS_API_TENANT
- Config files: .env.local, AGENTS.md
- Prompt files: AGENTS.md
- Accounts you'll need: YNS platform (yns.store); Stripe

## Code stack

- Languages: TypeScript
- Frameworks: Next.js 16, React, Tailwind CSS v4, Shadcn UI
- Package manager: bun
- Database: none
- Hosting target: Vercel, any Node host

## Skills

## Evidence and confidence

- formFactor: README: Next.js 16 App Router storefront (confidence 0.95)
- executionModel: no model at runtime (confidence 0.9)
- operability: no agent interface for the template itself; scripts/api.sh drives the hosted YNS Store API (confidence 0.7)
- effort: README Environment Variables section names YNS_API_KEY; .env.example names 2 vars; theme branches (confidence 0.9)
- editions: yournextstore.com/pricing: Starter $30, Growth $60, Pro $360 per month; template MIT (confidence 0.8)
- active: pushedAt 2026-09-02
- reach: (confidence 0)

## Open questions

- Is there a free or trial YNS plan that lets the template run without paying
- Whether the template can still run against Stripe directly without the YNS platform
