GLPI

ITIL service desk and asset manager with a Builder-documented REST API over every item type.

AdaptableOperable Business appWeb app Deterministic PHPJavaScriptTwig API License: GPL-3.0

GLPI is a GPL IT service management suite: tickets, incidents, problems, changes, assets, contracts, licenses, knowledge base, projects, and a plugin marketplace. Teclib ships GLPI Network Cloud as the hosted edition. The repo carries apirest.md, a REST API that exposes session, search, and CRUD over every GLPI item type, which is what the community MCP wrappers proxy.

Use it when
  • we are an MSP or internal IT team and want tickets, assets, and contracts in one place that our agent can query and update through a stable API
  • we need ITIL-style incident, problem, and change records rather than a chat-first support inbox
Gotchas
  • REST API is disabled by default and needs an app token plus IP allowlist under Setup > General > API
  • IT-helpdesk flavour: customer-facing support (chat, social channels) is not native
  • GPL-3.0 copyleft; PHP 8.2+ and MariaDB 10.6+ required
  • Official REST API v1 is being superseded by a High-Level API in GLPI 11; endpoint paths may change

Config only2 things to edit

Install writes config/config_db.php (database) and most behavior is set in the admin UI: entities, ticket templates, business rules, SLAs, notifications. Overrides for constants live in config/local_define.php per the install docs. An SMB edits config_db.php once, then adapts through the UI and marketplace plugins rather than code. The REST API needs an app token (Setup > General > API) and a user token per agent.

Operable: what an agent can drive

Interface

OfficialAPIpublished by the builderlocal

How an agent can drive an Operable Listing, in five levels: native (built for the agent as the primary interface), official (the Builder ships an agent interface), wrapped (a third party wraps the software's API), config (an agent can only drive it by editing files), gui (screen control only). An interface is official only when it is published by the same organization that ships the software. GUI-level Listings are allowed and sorted last.

Open questions

  • GLPI Network Cloud pricing
  • Confirm config/local_define.php is still the documented override file in GLPI 11
  • Tool breadth of svtica/glpi-mcp versus GMS64260/mcp-glpi; the recency rule picked the smaller one
